Another error received was: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
 
This error message occurs after the initial windows xp installation driver load. 
 

 
These errors were occuring when trying to reinstall the Windows XP operating system on a computer with an Asus P5AD2-E Deluxe motherboard.  After a quick look at the motherboard it appears to be a standard IDE hard drive connector.  Although after doing research on Asus’s website there was a RAID controller card in which their specific driver needs to be installed. 
 
When the setup of windows first starts you must press the F6 key to install additional RAID controller drivers.  This requires a floppy disk drive and windows will prompt you for it after it goes through loading the default installation drivers.
 
Error messages like these could also indicate that the memory is bad, and we recommend using Memtest to verify that too. 
 
In this case the drive file system was also corrupt so running CHKDSK /F like the blue screen mentions can also help resolve these type of issues.  WARNING: when you run CHKDSK /F if the operating system finds errors it will move them into a new folder right in the root of your C drive into dircheck.000 folders.  Files will be randomly placed here and will have to manually returned to their correct location. 
 
Microsoft goes into further troubleshooting details here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103 but in our case this error was simply resolved by downloading the RAID driver and loading it into the windows setup program.
